As a Director of NCI for nearly five years, and Executive Director for nearly three, I have worked very hard to forward the goals of NCI.
I have been the principal author of all of NCI's filings with the FCC since joining the Board of Directors and also traveled, at my own expense, to Washington, D.C. with fellow NCI Director Bill Sohl to make an Ex Parte Presentation to the FCC which FCC staffers later stated was extremely influential in helping to shape the FCC's December 1999 decision eliminate the 13 wpm and 20 wpm Morse tests.
I have spent, and if re-elected will continue to spend, literally dozens (my XYL says hundreds :-) of hours of personal time per month working to achieve our ultimate goal of eliminating ALL Morse testing as a prerequisite for ALL classes of amateur license on a global basis. I believe that NCI has made significant progress in that direction and believe that my contribution has had a very positive influence on our successes to date and would continue as a positive asset in the future.
I am an RF engineer by profession, with over 32 years experience designing RF communications hardware, systems architectures, and advanced modulation and coding schemes. I am a Fellow of the Radio Club of America (the world's oldest radio society), a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the ARRL, a member of TAPR, and a member of several local radio clubs. I also am a member of the WECA Regulatory Committee and I Chair the IEEE 802.18 Radio Regulatory Technical Advisory Group in the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee.
I have many years of experience in writing FCC regulatory filings, I have a good rapport with relevant FCC staff members. As Executive Director I am forging working relationships with the leaders of a number of the IARU societies, and I know that if you will elect me to another term on NCI's Board of Directors that I can continue to be a significant asset to the organization.
I would be extremely grateful if you would support me with your vote in the coming election so that I may continue to work to help NCI achieve our common goals and to make NCI a better, more effective force for modernization in amateur radio. And remember, comments from members are always welcome in my e-mail in-box.
