Call for Nominations for Election
to the NCI Board of Directors

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of No-Code International,  notice is hereby given for a period of nominations of candidates for election to the Board of Directors, opening immediately and closing April 1st (two weeks prior the opening of a two week voting window (April 15 - April 29, 2000).

The original Board of Directors consists of 11 members, thus, according to the Bylaws, there are 11 seats to be filled in this election. ("The number of Board of Directors members to be elected in a General Election shall not exceed the maximum number of directors serving, at any one time, since the previous election." Article V, Section A, Paragraph 1.)

All of the existing Directors have been nominated for re-election  and indicated their willingness to serve for another term.  Their Candidate Statements may be viewed as they become available through the Candidate Statements Links Page.

However, nominations of other candidates are also being solicited and accepted in accordance with the Bylaws and in the interest of maintaining a fair and open election process.  Candidate Statements from other nominees will be posted to the Candidate Statements Links Page as soon as possible after any new nominations are received and validated.

As specified in Article V, Section B, Paragraph 2, "Candidates for Director may be any member in good standing, who has access to electronic mail, and shall be nominated by any member in good standing, along with supporting nominations by a minimum of 5 other members in good standing.  There may be any number of candidates nominated for the Board of Directors positions."

For the convenience of the membership, a Nomination Form has been created, which may be printed, filled out, and submitted (by postal mail, unfortunately, due to the necessity of obtaining proper signatures and documentation to verify the identity and eligibility of both nominees and of those nominating a prospective candidate) ... by the next election, we plan to have in place a secure means to handle the nomination process electronically.  Before filling out and submitting a Nomination Form, please read the How To Nominate a Candidate instructions, as well as the following details.

For this election:

• Validated nominees will be notified by e-mail and asked to submit their Candidate Statements electronically.
• Candidate Statements will be accepted from nominees prior to the validation of their nomination, but will not be posted to the NCI website until the nomination has been validated.
• All Candidate Statements will be formatted uniformly in .HTML form for publication on the NCI website.
• Links to Candidate Statements received from all validated nominees will be posted to the Candidate Statements Links Page as soon as possible after they are received.
• Nominees should make every effort to limit their statements to 1 browser screen's worth of text and should submit their statements in English (so that our webmaster can verify that there are no "nasty" words, etc.)

In the interest of furthering NCI's goals and to facilitate the election process, please only nominate candidates who are:

•  eligible to serve
•  willing and able to serve on a very active basis ... inactive directors won't serve the organization well ... the current Board members spend at least several hours a week on NCI business through e-mail discussions, motions and votes, reviewing and commenting on documents to be filed with regulatory agencies, etc.
•  have reliable e-mail service (since the Board of Directors conducts all of its business and deliberations via e-mail exchanges, this is essential),
  
  and most importantly
  
•  are completely committed to NCI's primary goal of eliminating Morse testing as a prerequisite for all classes of amateur license world-wide.
